Fatima’s Got Talent

 

Last block we had our first-ever ‘Fatima’s Got Talent’ exhibition at Fatima College in Al Ain.

The exhibition showcased the art of our students and included paintings, photography, calligraphy and charcoal drawings. The students from A7 worked very hard and creatively setting up the exhibition room and the end result was great! All of the teachers from the foundation programme were invited to bring their classes to appreciate and admire the work of our talented artists Reem Salem, Sara Helais, Shaikha Saeed, Shaikha Mohammed and Wedima Nekhaira.

It is hoped that this will be the first of many opportunities for our students to display their artistic creations.

In the words of the acclaimed Japanese novelist, Haruki Murakami,

“If you’re young and talented it’s like you have wings.”

Apology!!

Until now I have been studying on a new programme, I apologise for ignoring you and not being touch with you.

But hopefully I will find some time to write, publish and share my ideas.

New Start

As now, me and my L8 friends started a new semester in the Common Year, I feel excited, happy and the most delightful thing is that all of my friends are with me in one class.

Teachers in Common Year are good but not as good as our L7 and L8 teachers.

We really miss our old classes, teachers, lessons and our free time. Now we are working hard to complete the Common Year.

Exam Tips From A8

Here are some exam tips from the level 8 students:

• Remember to go to bed early the night before your exam
• Try to do your best in the exam
• Write study notes when you revise for the exam
• Study new vocabulary to help you in the exam
• Arrive at the exam hall early
• Read the questions in the exam carefully
• Bring your ID and switch your phone off during the exam
• Don’t cheat and look at your friend’s exam paper
• Don’t be nervous for the speaking exam, try to relax
• Raise your hand in the examination if you have any questions

IELTS Writing Task 2: Sentence Length

Some writing tips for you!

Students often try to write long sentences in the hope that these will impress the examiner. This is understandable: the public marking scheme asks for varied sentence structures. However, if you use long sentences, you risk confusing your sentence structure or mixing your verb tenses.

At Oxbridge-english.com we believe that the most effective way to improve at IELTS is by writing and reading a lot. Then have a native speaker check your work.

What is your New Year’s Resolution for 2014?

The New Year is traditionally a time when people make plans for their future and decide on any changes they would like to make.

Here at Fatima College, the A8 students asked the Al Rowdah teachers what exciting plans they were making for the year ahead.

Ms Lana               “I plan to go to the gym 4 times a week.”

Mr Qais                 “I plan to go to the gym twice a week, buy a ES 350 Lexus (2007) and bring my mother to Al Ain.”

Ms Lambrini   “I want to enjoy my stay in the UAE more.”

Ms Souha         “I hope to have more time to do exercises and read the Qur’an.”

Mr David          “I plan to sell my expensive cars and show my mother the beauty of the Emirates.”

Mr Amer          “I would like to go to the gym, rent a new flat and change my car.”

Ms Phillipa      “I hope to study hard on my Masters degree, keep going to the gym and learn Arabic.”

Ms Wendy       “I plan to do more yoga, fix my bike, see more of the UAE and start my masters.”

Mr Ingolf         “I plan to go back to my country Germany, eat less, do more sports and travel to Qatar again.”

Mr Naveed Aziz  “I hope to travel to more countries in the forthcoming year.”

Ms Zahirra        “I hope to complete my masters, spend more quality time with my son and watch more comedies.”

Congratulations A8!

Well done to all the A8 students for passing their level 8 exams with flying colours!

The whole class has now entered the Common Year at Fatima College.

The Al Rowdah teachers will miss them very much. Congratulations ladies for your hard work and also for all the effort that you put into creating the Al Rowdah student magazine.

Common IELTS Speaking and Writing Task 2 Topics

Here is some useful IELTS information for you!

Here at Oxbridge-English.com, we believe the best way to score highly at the speaking and writing tasks of IELTS is to develop a bank of answers for commonly asked questions. Happy vacation‏

We have just finished our exams and we feel exhausted after weeks of lack of sleep

and lack of going out with lots of stress and busy schedules.

So now we have that awesome and joyful feeling when you are done with all your exams

and you actually get the freedom to enjoy your vacations like never before.

So best of luck in your exam results and always feel happy.
